Tony Tsai, MD
Medical Director and Founder
Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Specialist
Dr. Tony Tsai has dedicated his career to helping individuals and couples navigate the complexities of infertility with expertise, precision, and compassion. As the founder and medical director of The New York Fertility Center, he brings Ivy League education, fellowship training at one of the nation’s premier reproductive medicine programs, and decades of hands-on clinical experience to patients throughout Manhattan, Queens, and the greater New York metropolitan area.
Guided by Experience
Board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology with a subspecialty focus in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, Dr. Tsai also serves as Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
Education and Training
Dr. Tsai’s medical training reflects a commitment to excellence at every stage. He completed his undergraduate education at Columbia University before earning his Doctor of Medicine from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His residency in obstetrics and gynecology took place at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he developed a strong foundation in surgical technique and patient care.
He then pursued subspecialty training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility through a prestigious fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, in collaboration with Stanford Medical Center—a program that shaped his approach to complex fertility cases and advanced reproductive surgery.
Clinical Expertise
Dr. Tsai provides comprehensive care across the full spectrum of reproductive medicine, with particular expertise in complex and difficult cases that may have proven challenging elsewhere. His clinical focus includes:
- In Vitro Fertilization (IVF):Individualized protocols designed to optimize outcomes based on each patient’s unique clinical picture
- Intrauterine Insemination (IUI):Precisely timed procedures for appropriate candidates seeking less invasive treatment options
- Recurrent Pregnancy Loss:Thorough evaluation and targeted treatment for patients who have experienced multiple miscarriages
- Fertility Preservation:Egg freezing, embryo cryopreservation, and oncofertility services for patients facing medical treatment
- Male and Female Factor Infertility:Comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and evidence-based treatment planning
Advanced Reproductive Surgery
Beyond fertility treatment, Dr. Tsai is recognized for his expertise in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery with a focus on fertility preservation. He performs more than 500 laparoscopic myomectomies and has pioneered techniques that allow patients to preserve reproductive potential while addressing conditions that might otherwise compromise fertility.
Precision Surgical Care
His surgical expertise includes laparoscopic and hysteroscopic treatment of endometriosis, uterine fibroids, uterine septum, and Asherman syndrome. Dr. Tsai was the first surgeon in Queens to popularize laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy — a technique that preserves the cervix when medically appropriate — and developed a staged laparoscopic and hysteroscopic approach for complex cases involving large fibroids or extensive adhesions.
Patient Care Philosophy
“Every patient who walks through our doors has a unique story and unique challenges,” Dr. Tsai explains. “My role is to listen carefully, apply everything I’ve learned over decades of practice, and work with each patient to create a plan that makes sense for their specific situation. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all fertility care.”
Every patient has their own background, health history, and fertility challenges. Our job is to carefully listen to each person’s concerns, use the knowledge and experience gained from many years of practice, and create a treatment plan that fits that individual. Rather than using the same approach for everyone, we believe each patient deserves care tailored to their unique needs and goals.
Professional Leadership and Recognition
Dr. Tsai’s contributions to reproductive medicine extend beyond clinical practice. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading obstetrics, gynecology, and fertility journals, with research focusing on reproductive endocrinology, fertility treatment outcomes, and embryo development.
His leadership roles include serving as former Chairman of ACOG District II Section 3, as well as past President, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Queens OB/GYN Society. He has received multiple honors recognizing his commitment to clinical excellence and medical education, including:
- ACOG Mentor of the Year Award, District II (2025)
- ACOG District II Mentor Award (2024)
- ACOG National Faculty Award for Promoting High Standards of Residency Education (2013)
- Top REI and Fertility Specialist recognition (2019–2024)
